I had a wonderful time recording Ep. 2 of the MofNY Podcast Series with the amazing violinist, Gregory Harrington. Born in Dublin, Greg enjoys a successful international career as a soloist and is redefining what it means to be an artist and violinist in the 21st century. We discussed what it was like for him growing up in Dublin, his early musical memories, and what brought him to NYC and what keeps him here. We also chatted about a few of his recent projects and listened to a track from his first album, “Reflections,” as well as his arrangement of “Hurt,” which is a powerful interpretation inspired by both the Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) and Johnny Cash versions. Greg also performed a beautiful medley of Irish music live to close out the episode. I have known Greg for years and it was a honor and pleasure getting to know more about the man behind the music!
Hey! I’m thrilled to post Episode 1 of my podcast series, Musicians of New York. In this pilot episode, I sit down in my East Harlem apartment with singer-songwriter, Colin McGrath. I have known Colin for around a decade and have always been impressed by his warmth, intellect, and musicianship. He is the personification of curiosity. A teacher and lifelong learner, Colin continuously pushes the boundaries of sound and expression in his music. So sit back, put on your headphones, and join Colin and me as we explore Colin’s musical journey thus far.
